In addition to printing inks, coatings, plastic colorants, our organic pigments are used for a variety of other purposes that require color, including cosmetics, color filters for LCD displays, toner for color copiers and inks for inkjet printers. We offer varying hues and dispersibility according to different purposes and aim to bring color into people’s lifestyles through our extensive range of weather-resistant, heat-resistant and safety features depending on the manufacturing process and the purpose of the resulting product.
Through a combination of chemical dispersion technology built up through the Toyo Ink Group’s pigment manufacturing operations and our unique mechanical dispersion technology, we provide pigment dispersions offering high levels of transparency, clarity and resistance to diverse conditions.
Our functional material dispersions, which undergo advanced dispersion treatment in order to make the most of the properties inherent in organic and inorganic pigments (conductivity, smoothness, ultraviolet absorption, refractive index control, etc.), are widely used for various purposes that require high levels of functionality, including optical purposes and electrical or electronic materials.
We have a varied range of plastic colorants that include powders, pastes and pellets depending on the type of plastic and method of molding. We also manufacture highly functional compound masterbatch that offers improved flame-resistance, conductivity and optical properties compared to mere colorants. With an emphasis on the environment, we are expanding the scope of application of our biomass plastic colorants in particular, moving into fields such as electrical products and the auto industry as well as agricultural, forestry and fishery materials, civil engineering and building materials and outdoor leisure products.
The on-demand printing market is expected to continue to grow in the future, moving beyond the confines of paper to include the likes of film and circuit board printing. In order to stay ahead of future demand in this area, Toyo Ink is focusing on the development of ink for use in inkjet printing, the only non-contact method of printing capable of covering everything from the sign market to minute coating. Harnessing our core pigment and dispersion technology, combined with our newly developed ink-based and evaluation technology, we are working on the development of products that will ensure customer satisfaction and earn customers’ trust in every field from printing to printable electronics.
Our «Lionature» series is a healthy lifestyle support brand created as a result of polyphenol extract from kumazasa bamboo, oligosaccharide and other substances being incorporated into products such as health supplements and soap. «Liofresh Color» meanwhile is made from safflower and other plant-based natural colorants and is widely used in confectionary, cosmetics and dyeing. Having developed ink-based equivalents, our «Liofresh» series of products has now made it possible to print directly onto confectionary and other types of food using edible ink. We have a range of other applied products as well, including the «Tamago Jet Printer System», which is used to print expiry dates on eggs, and the «Safety Series», which exclusively uses inks made from ingredients designed to ensure excellent oral safety.
Our products include computer backup tapes, interview and editing tapes for television and radio stations and recording tapes for digital video cameras. Applying Toyo Ink’s back coating materials to tapes such as these improves their capabilities, including making them more effective whilst on the move, more durable and more conductive. Our pigment dispersion technology built up over many years makes it possible to form smooth films less than 10 nanometers thick. Even at the forefront of the continually evolving world of data storage, the Toyo Ink Group’s technology still meets the vast majority of the market’s needs, not least in terms of high density and high capacity, and is widely trusted.
Developed using a combination of cutting edge technology, Toyo Ink’s “color-resist” ink is used to display colors on commonly used LCD displays the world over.
Toyo Ink’s colloidal iron (CI) slurry «CI Agent» is a powerful soil remediation agent that minimizes and dechlorinates hazardous substances when directly injected into soil contaminated with chlorinated organic solvents such as trichloroethylene. In addition to reducing environmental risks, «CI Agent» also offers outstanding performance in terms of the duration of remediation, efficiency and restrictions.
