• Toyo Ink to Exhibit at ExpoPrint Latin America 2010 in Brazil

Tokyo, Japan — Toyo Ink Mfg. Co. Ltd. (President & CEO: Kunio Sakuma, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will be exhibiting for the first time in South America at ExpoPrint Latin America 2010, a printing material fair taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, from Wednesday June 23 through Tuesday June 29.

The Toyo Ink Group has set out a vision aimed at becoming “a corporate group evolving into a globally useful specialty chemical manufacturer” as part of its New Vision SCC2017, the Group’s current long-term plan, and conducts its business and corporate activities with the objective of evolving into an internationally respected, science-oriented corporate group. Participation in ExpoPrint is positioned as part of the Group’s product and corporate promotion activities in line with this vision.
Although this is the second time that ExpoPrint has been held in Brazil (the first being in 2006), this year will be the first time that the Toyo Ink Group has exhibited in South America. In May this year, the Group is set to establish and commence operations via TOYO INK BRASIL LTDA., a new sales subsidiary in São Paulo dealing primarily in printing ink. ExpoPrint will be the first major promotional initiative undertaken by the new company.
The Toyo Ink Group’s theme for its exhibit at ExpoPrint will be “Image the Future — Together Our Potential is Limitless”. This encapsulates the Group’s desire to firmly establish itself in South America as a developer of printing materials and to act as a business partner growing hand in hand with and paving the way for the future of the printing industry in Brazil and its neighboring countries.

The Toyo Ink booth at ExpoPrint Latin America 2010 will mainly exhibit products such as offset inks, UV curable inks and gravure inks.
TOYO KING NEX™ Series Sheet-fed offset inks
The TOYO KING NEX Series is part of Toyo Ink’s core range of sheet-fed offset inks.
Aimed primarily at the high-end market, the TOYO KING NEX ERP Series is highly acclaimed for its superior printability and hue compliant with ISO 12647-2 (Japan Color).
Positioned at the heart of Toyo Ink’s range of sheet-fed inks, the TOYO KING NEX NV100 Series is a product less reliant on petrochemicals that uses only vegetable oils instead of petroleum-based solvents, which contribute to global warming.
Kaleido Ink™ Series Superior color-rendering sheet-fed offset inks
The Kaleido Ink series, part of Toyo Ink’s range of superior color-rendering solutions, is capable of reproducing a range of colors that would be impossible using regular process inks, without resorting to six- or seven-color printing, and covers the vast majority of the Adobe RGB color gamut.
The full range consists of the standard Kaleido SOY Series, which uses soybean oil, the Kaleido Aqualess Series for waterless printing and the UV curable Kaleido UV series.
FLASH DRY™ Series UV curable offset inks
Toyo Ink’s FLASH DRY Series of UV curable inks are cured instantly when exposed to UV light, forming a tough ink coating.
The full range consists of the FLASH DRY KTNX Series, which enables superior curing and a high gloss finish for paper-based packaging, the highly adhesive FLASH DRY O NEW HF1 Series for plastic packaging and the multi-paper compatible FLASH DRY MP Series, which can be used on any base material.
FLASH DRY™ HS Series FLASH DRY™ LED Series Energy-saving UV curable inks
These are a new type of environmentally conscious UV curable inks that are more sensitive to UV light, making it possible to reduce energy consumption for UV irradiation during the curing process.
The Toyo Ink booth will be showcasing the FLASH DRY HS Series, which enables users to reduce irradiated UV (i.e. drying energy) by between 1/4 and 1/2 compared to normal levels, and the FLASH DRY LED Series, which is compatible with LED UV light sources (enabling a reduction of 1/4).
FLASH DRY™ CLEARCOAT Series UV curable coating varnishes
Catering to demand for coatings with greater aesthetic appeal, in order to add gloss after color printing for instance, Toyo Ink offers a full range of varnishes with various different capabilities, in addition to those on display at ExpoPrint. FLASH DRY CLEARCOAT EX boasts an ultra high-gloss finish to rival that of pp film lamination and also helps boost productivity and reduce waste, as well as enhancing aesthetic appeal. FLASH DRY CLEARCOAT FR meanwhile is a high-gloss varnish with anti-fingerprint capabilities that is ideal for protecting the aesthetic appeal of packaging on display in store.
LIOJET™ Series T-Press™ LIOJET™ Series Inkjet inks
The LIOJET Series of pigment-based inkjet inks combines Toyo Ink’s pigment and dispersal technology.
The Toyo Ink booth will be showcasing the solvent-based LIOJET SR Series, which offers outstanding preservation stability, consistency and color reproduction. In particular, SR036K focuses on high quality, whilst SR061K focuses on cost performance.
In terms of UV curable inks, the Toyo Ink booth will feature the quick-drying LIOJET FV Series, which forms a tough coating and offers outstanding adhesion to vinyl chloride, and the LIOJET NC Series, which is compatible with a wide range of base materials, including vinyl chloride, polycarbonate, acrylic, PET plastic, polypropylene and glass.
The Toyo Ink booth will also be showcasing the T-Press LIOJET Series of POD inkjet inks for wide ranging purposes such as commercial printing, direct mail and label printing.
LIOVALUE™ AQUAECOL™ AQUA LIONA™ Lamination ink for soft packaging
Compatible with a wide variety of base materials (films), Toyo Ink has a range of lamination ink products to suit any purpose, including heat resistant and environmentally friendly inks.
At ExpoPrint, Toyo Ink will be showcasing its high quality LIOVALUE solvent-based gravure inks for retort pouch food packaging, AQUAECOL water-based gravure inks, which are suitable for high-temperature retort on any base material, and AQUA LIONA water-based flexographic inks, which offer increased productivity whilst keeping environmental impact to an absolute minimum.
TOMOFLEX™ Series Dry laminating adhesives
Toyo Ink’s adhesive technology plays a supporting role in people’s everyday lives, including products such as laminating adhesives designed for various different purposes. TM-218S for snack food to boil-in-the-bag food packaging and TM-585-60M for boil-in-the-bag aluminum packaging are both two-component curable dry laminating adhesives for use on a range of plastic films and aluminum foil. They offer outstanding performance in areas such as wettability and finish.
Although the Toyo Ink booth will also feature TM-250HV, which offers outstanding coatability, content resistance and heat resistance and is ideal for high-temperature retort (up to 135°C) products, Toyo Ink can also supply a wide range of other adhesives to suit users’ performance specifications.
CP-2 Series CP-3 Series CPDI™ Series Can coatings materials and inks for metal
The Toyo Ink Group’s inks for metal and can coating materials have an outstanding track record in terms of quality and have secured a large share of the market in Japan and other Asian countries. Toyo Ink is aiming to use ExpoPrint as a springboard to offer the South American market a new option in printing material procurement.
Another exciting material featured at ExpoPrint will be CPDI Foam Ink (foaming ink), which can add tactile elements to the surface of cans.
